I set my table in advance of Thanksgiving so I could give you a sneak peak and, maybe, some inspiration for your own table. To get started I got to work on my DIY Metallic and Glitter Gourds, once I had assembled all the necessary supplies it was a really easy project. It took a day to spray paint the gourds, but it was not a time consuming project by any means. I just ran outside, sprayed them, left them to dry and then repeated the process a few more times. The glittering was just as fast and I did them after I had assembled all of the painted dry gourds. The fun part was setting the table and arranging my accessories. I found the tablecloth overlay at a tag sale and it has been waiting in my linen drawer for the right event. I thought it would compliment the colors and feel dressy enough for a special holiday. I bought the candlesticks at Elephants Trunk Flea Market and I think their height is a nice contrast to the gourds on the table. I scattered small pine cones (that I had spray painted gold last year), added a few gold turkeys and votive candles. Viola! My centerpiece was done.
What do you think? Let me know if you do something similar – I would love to hear from you and see pictures! Be sure to take a look at my post preparing for Thanksgiving to get a list of things I do in advance of the big day, so I can spend more time with my family and less time searching for a platter or ironing napkins.
