This post is going to be a break from all my great finds, actually this is a great find, and a story about what I have been up to. Don’t be scared, this should be an informative and, hopefully, inspiring story. No drama or bad things to come…promise! I just thought you might be wondering why I haven’t posted any fabulous chocolate chip cookie recipes in awhile and that you might be curious and interested to hear my tale. Here we go, no turning back now! I have been on The Plan: Eliminate the Surprising “Healthy” Foods That Are Making You Fat–and Lose Weight Fast
I have had my share of chocolate, food and plenty of wine to wash it down and, while I loved every single morsel (and sip!), I decided it was high time to take off those lingering 10 pounds. Stop the presses…what?!? 10 Pounds? Well, truth be told I haven’t lost them all but, I am on the journey. A journey, I thought I would share with you and then, I would UP my accountability quota. Ha! You knew there was a catch, right?!?
I am going to back up and tell you that I am not new to dieting, I did Weight Watchers after each of my children were born and even reached Lifetime status – that is big news in Weight Watchers world! But over time, I slipped back into my bad habits and up my weight would go. As I have gotten older it seems harder and harder to lose the weight. It was frustrating that my go to diet wasn’t budging my weight. I counted calories, points, ate five small meals a day… If it was going to melt the pounds I tried it. I am what you would call a yo-yo dieter. I have finally realized it and I am going to own it.
I heard about The Plan last Summer from my friend Rita. I was moaning about my weight and how I had just not found my groove. She told me about The Plan and I downloaded a sample of the book on my Kindle. I read the sample and immediately bought the full edition. I read it and digested, no pun intended, the information. I did not start it immediately, but needed to be ready and find a time when I was committed to making a change in my eating. This is a very first for me. I normally jump in feet first even before getting past chapter one. I read the book on my kindle two times and then bought a hard copy. That is HUGE for me! The Plan is structured so you can find out what foods work and do not with your bodies chemistry. The scale is your friend, not your enemy, and you build a list of foods that will help you lose the weight and feel great! Watch this quick video to learn more:
I started The Plan on Monday, October 27th. I was 150.2 lbs. I did the three day cleanse and continued on to do the full 20 day program. I finished the first two phases on Sunday, November 16th at 143.8 lbs. Not bad for 20 days and so close to my goal of 140 lbs. The Plan is a way of life, not a diet. I continued to follow phase three and then I got caught up on vacation for Thanksgiving, again over the Christmas holidays and then I went to Disney World, where it was not very easy to manage the good vs bad foods. I decided to control what I could and let the rest go. It was more important to be present with my family and enjoy the vacation. I gained 3 lbs. I am back and ready to pick up where I left off. I have shopped for the foods I need for this week and prepared my meals for today. To keep me motivated, I bought the newly released The Plan Cookbook: More Than 150 Recipes for Vibrant Health and Weight Loss to add even more plan friendly recipes to my rotation! Let’s do this!!!
Be sure to check back here (all posts will be located under the category Tasting Radar) because I will be posting about being prepared, planning your meals, how I managed the three day cleanse, what worked and didn’t work, my progress and much more… To be continued.
