5 Things in My Beauty Bag | 07

With a deep, deep freeze in New England it means my skin goes into a parched, miserable state. By the end of the day, my face feels tight, itchy and in need of some hydration. I sometimes take some oil or moisturizer and pat it all over my face so I get some relief before I get home and can get off my makeup. I am looking for a thirst quenching, skin softening moisturizer to nourish my sensitive dry face that will keep my skin hydrated all day. There are so many option out there and I am at a loss. I am thinking about this Ultra Moisturizing Balm, but it might be too think to wear under my makeup.  Have any ideas?  I would love some help!

In the mean time, I love this hand lotion (posted here), I keep one in my bag, next to my bed and on my desk. It is thick, but sinks in and feels great.  I am a big fan of these silk pillows (I have a pink one for traveling so I don’t lose my white one in a sea of white Hotel pillows!) and they are the best for both your face and hair. They are one of my must have beauty products!  I just got this hair mask and will let you know how I like it after I give it a go.  Please share your favorite Winter Skin Savers in the Comments!

5 Things in My Beauty Bag | 06

The Holidays are when I like to break out the sparkles!  This month, the 5 things in my beauty bag include my favorite sparkle eye shadow.  I was turned on to it by my niece, it looked so great shimmering on her eye lids, I had to try it!  I also like this creme stick in goldstone – it goes on really easily and you can blend it with your fingertip. Another new find was from my friend Adrienne, she introduced me to this Chanel Lip Color, one side is a lipstick and the other a gloss. It stays on and lasts a long time, which is so much better than losing your lip color right as you start sipping your first cocktail! I like to wear my hair up and think it would be nice to add a little sparkle with one of the hairpins.  I normally wear a nude nail color, buy  am thinking of giving these colors a try even if they only last one night! And lastly, this spray powder for your body and hair is so cool! It reminds me of bottles I saw on my Grandmother’s dressing table and I love how it puffs out, a perfect way to feel glamorous while getting ready and then later showing of a little glimmer on your decolletage. How’s that for fabulous!

Each month, Ridgely Brode post 5 things in her beauty bag on her blog, Ridgely's Radar. Things she loves to use and others that she can't wait to try.

I Found the Perfect Nude Nail Color

Remember when I was looking for the perfect nude nail color (see post here)?  Well, I found it!  It is just the right color and the right shade for my hands.  Please meet Tea Time Lakur from LONDONTOWN, a line of vegan, gluten-free, cruelty-free, and 9-free nail care. The line is also infused with Florium Complex, LONDONTOWN ‘s proprietary blend of natural oils and botanical extracts, which when used all together is meant to nourish and strengthen your nails down to the root. I need that after years of biting my nails and destroying my cuticles!  Plus, have you looked at all their colors! Next up, I want to try Cheerio on my nails and one of these fabulous reds on my toes.   I am also using the Nail Hardener and Base Coat to help fortify my nails and stop the cracking and peeling that is a new problem I seem to be having. I am then topping the color with the Gel Genius Top Coat that has kept my nails shiny and like new since I painted them.  It feels good to have found a new brand that will help me maintain my digits and has the perfect nude color I had been looking for!

It isn’t even Thanksgiving and everywhere I look, Christmas is in full swing (case in point.. did you see this?). With that in mind, I started looking for all the beauty items to give and receive that could be stocking stuffers, present for your best gal pal or maybe a little re-fresher for your own travel case.  How fabulous is the Deborah Lippmann Come Fly with Me Manicure Set?  Love that! I have always wanted a very nice set of makeup brushes in a case of their own and I have to say the Charlotte Tilbury Magical Mini Brush Set is right on point.  So many fun, useful items that come in their own travel case.  What’s not to love about getting a beauty gift set?

I can’t remember the last time we dressed up for Halloween, there was a time when we would get invited to a costume party every year, but it has been a while since then. It was stressful to figure out what to wear and then run around getting all the right pieces for the outfit. I definitely preferred the prettier costumes to the really gruesome ones and if I could glam it up, that was much more fun.  We have no concrete plans for this year and if something comes up last minute, we have a bin of years gone by costumes we can drag out and hope for something passable.  When in doubt a little Kitten is always easy and I already have everything in my beauty bag to get the look.  One of the most important items being a really good liquid black eyeliner which you can use to make cat eyes, a little black nose and whiskers.  Add some fabulous lashes, some delicate cat ears and a lip that looks spooky in the tube but goes on in the most gorgeous bitten lip color.  Viola!  Don’t forget to wash it all off when you get home and slather on a revitalizing sleeping cream to wake up refreshed the next day.  Happy Cat-ing Around!

What is Multi-Masking?

Have you heard?  There is this new thing called multi-masking.  It is where you apply different masks to different areas of your face depending on their skin needs.  Kind of a cool concept.  I decided I better give it a try to see how well it works.  Using a Facial Mask Brush (so much easier than using your fingers with little or no mess), I applied the Himalayan Charcoal Purifying Glow Mask to my forehead and nose, the Ethiopian Honey Deep Nourishing Mask to my cheeks and, finally, the Chinese Ginseng and Rice Clarifying Polishing Mask to my chin.  It was such a weird experience to have my forehead get really dry and tight while my cheeks felt soft and hydrated.  I loved it.  For once I felt that the mask, or masks in this case, targeted my multiple skin needs and really made a difference. Multi-masking is a smart new way to treat your whole face…why didn’t we think of this before?
