I had barely put away my Halloween decorations and gotten a chance to turn the leftover candy into delectable desserts (the Snickers Ice Cream Pie is in the works) when I realized I better get organized for Thanksgiving! We host our family every year and I need to break the cycle of overcooking or undercooking the main attraction. No frozen turkeys for us!
I discovered Mike’s Organic Delivery, located in Greenwich, CT, who works with local farmers to bring you (and me!) organic/ fresh produce and meats to your doorstep year round! (Note: They deliver to Greenwich, Riverside, Cos Cob, Old Greenwich, Stamford, Darien, Chappaqua, Harrison, Rye, Bedford, Armonk and Larchmont.)
For Thanksgiving, Mike’s Organic Delivery has 12 to 24 lb free range turkeys (hormone and antibiotic free) that will be delivered fresh and uncooked. Check under Thanksgiving Dinner to see how many pounds you need to order for your gathering… I think I need a 21-24 lb turkey for our family and so we have enough leftover for sandwiches the next day!
Reminder: Cut off for ordering your turkey is November 18th! Gobble Gobble!
I like to make my own side dishes, but Mike’s offers (if you do not have the inclination, time or cooking space) a selection of cooked sides to go with your turkey. How convenient is that!?!
Now that I have taken care of ordering the turkey, I can start working on how I am going to dress my table!
