I love to bake cookies and try new recipes. There are so many cookie options: chewy, cakey, crisp, soft, and chunky. My son requested “regular” chocolate chip cookies. I am not sure what he means by “regular,” so I took a chance and made Ina Garten’s Chocolate Chunk Cookies.
I looked in my chocolate bin and I only had morsels, no chunks! I was not going to the store, so morsels would have to do the job. I also did not have enough semi-sweet and had to throw in some milk chocolate to come out with the right proportions.
The recipe was very easy. It called for baking your cookies on parchment paper and using a 1 3/4″ scoop to dish out the cookie dough. Note: change the parchment sheet for each batch of cookies.
You need to dampen your fingers and press down the mound of dough before baking.
The cookies are crispy with smooth, soft chocolate bits. I think they are delicious with a cold glass of milk. I have to check in with my son to see if these are what he considers “regular.”
