Having passed the first day of Fall and October 1st is upon us, I plan on going through my closet this weekend, moving transitional pieces to the front and placing the more light-weight Summer pieces to the back. While I am at it, I am going to sort my Summer clothes into the following piles; store, give-away, sell, clean and/or repair. To make this task easier I assemble the below items in my bedroom so that I am not distracted by not having anywhere to put my clothes as I go through them:
I have a Folding/Rolling Clothing Rackthat I put outside my closet to help me organize my hanging pieces.
I use large plastic containers, like this Sterilite Storage Box, to store my folded clothing. I bring out my Fall bins, unload their contents onto my bed and then slowly replace them with my Summer items.
I use a large Laundry Bag to put everything that needs to be dry cleaned and repaired.
I have Laundry Basket at the ready for anything that needs to be washed at home.
I keep a pile of Unruled Index Cards (5 x 8), Sharpie Markers, and Scotch Magic Tape on hand to label the bins. Along with Safety Pins that I use to pin messages on things that need to be repaired or point out a stain for the cleaners before I put the garments into the laundry bag.
I love the “Commandments of Hanging” from Clos-ette Too, it is how we should all organize our closets! I plan on making sure I follow these “rules” as I re-organize this weekend.
