I am sure you are dying to see how I cleaned up my kitchen desk! It was a very therapeutic endeavor for me to undertake and I am enjoying my streamlined, organized desk and drawers. I have now maintained it for about two weeks and it still looks the same as the day I organized it! So without any further ado, here is the big reveal!
The first step was clearing everything off the desk and out of the drawers. I made piles on our kitchen island and tossed into the garbage can as I went. It is amazing to see what had accumulated and how much was old and outdated. For the top of my desk, I have only what I grab on a daily basis, the rest is put away.
- Bills / Statements
- Radar
- Misc.
- Clippings
- Travel
- Coupons
- Receipts
I have to say it took me some searching, but I found some great plastic clear folders to slip all our different papers into. I used a similar folder to this Smead Project Jacket for our Bills/ Statements, Radar papers, clippings and Misc. items. They are slim and hold just enough papers until I can get it paid, stored or filed elsewhere. For the travel folder I thought Clear Poly Envelopes
with a tie front would be good for in the desk and to throw in my tote when we actually are traveling. I thought smaller clear string and button booklet envelopes
would be the right size and transportable for our receipts and store coupons.
Your desk looks so tidy!!! Great ideas for organization. A lot of people use their Pocket the Date Calendars for their bills, receipts and coupons, too. Thanks!
I use those clear plastic folders, some with velcro and some with the ties, for everything! And yes, they are great for travel. Nice job here…
