I want to share my healthy lifestyle journey with you, something that I have been slowly dripping out in this blog, you may have seen this post and this post , but it has now become such a big part of my life and is an additional career, that I need to make it a bigger part of my blog too.
Welcome to my Health Lifestyle journey. When I started this blog in 2011 – OMG! has it been that long? Do you know how many posts that is? I am tired just thinking about it 🙂 I wanted to share everything on My Radar and quickly narrowed it down to three categories: Fashion, Reading and Recipes, but as time has marched on I found that I have changed and need to add another category, Healthy Lifestyle.
As I became more and more excited about blogging and developing my photography skills, I wanted to share pictures of what I was wearing with me actually wearing what I was talking about. But I was not comfortable with myself and how I looked in the pictures. Sound familiar? Are you the one taking all the family pictures and there are none of you? Well, that was me. I am also really picky (aren’t we all) about how fat my arms look, the wrinkles under my chin when I look down and that I need to stand up straighter.. just to name a few. And yes, my mother was right, good posture really does make you look skinnier.
Right before my 49th birthday, I saw some family pictures of myself and I about died. Did I really look like that? Was I really that heavy? I remember the dress was a little tight that day, but I had felt pulled together and happy with how I had looked. But I didn’t look well in the pictures and it wasn’t the lighting or me being too picky. Hell, the pictures were taken by a professional photographer!
Ugh, I just was tired of feeling unhappy and something had to give. I decided to just own it and try to figure a way to make a change. That is when a friend suggested I try a superfood nutrition program. I had said no countless times before; no because I thought it was too expensive, no because I didn’t want to drink a shake, no because I didn’t want to do a nutritional cleanse, no because I wasn’t ready, no because I didn’t believe in myself, no because I was scared I couldn’t do it…But on that day in October of 2016, I realized that I really had no excuse. What is more important than my health?
I said YES. I said YES to 30 days, I said YES to committing to my health and putting myself first.
I will never forget that first week. I did the schedule just as it was told to me and on day 5 – yes day 5 – I woke up rested, energized, 5 pounds released and a fog had lifted. I was happy! I was deliriously happy.
I drove out of my way to visit my friend to thank her in person – to laugh and cry about WHY I hadn’t started earlier and why she didn’t make me do it sooner (Ahem.. See above my list of No’s!)
And I have not looked back, I have not gone a day since then without this nutrition flooding my body, I have not gone a day when I do not thank her for giving me my happiness back and my health. I have found something that I want to share with others and I want everyone to feel just as good as I do, to get their health back and be happy.
I am now a Health Coach and sharing with others. I have now added another job to my resume and it is so much fun! I love helping others and sharing. It is what I do! I share fabulous fashion finds, great books, delicious recipes and now my super amazing nutrition program!
