I spent the last evening of 2016 enjoying the sunset on the beach watching the waves roll in. For me, there is nothing better than being on the beach, soaking up the sun, sea air and the sounds of the ocean. I like to walk up and down the beach looking for shells and splashing in the water. I am wearing a gorgeous blue gauze poncho from Cynthia Cazort Collins. Cynthia and I went to college together and have stayed in touch ever since. She has an infectious enthusiastic personality and has been creating beautiful things for years. I first bought her jewelry and now am excited to be trying out her elegant clothes. The ponchos and kaftans are the softest lightest voile that pack like a charm and can be worn as cover ups over a swim suit or, with a full slip, as a dress. They are effortless, weightless and perfect from beach to table. I wore the black one to dinner with a large chunky necklace and flat sandals.

Thank you so much Ridgely . I know you were stunning in each color. Your style has always been admired by so many … effortless, classic , timeless …. a true beauty on the inside and out.
You have a keen eye and I am thrilled to read your blog and find new ideas and treasures. Somehow Ridgely had it figured out even in college … how to live a life of grace and interest …. you are style personified. Ridgely was in the thick of the fun, but unlike the rest of us , she was poised and elegant … somehow that’s just Ridgely ….. the old soul modern teacher who somehow has always managed to do it all!!!!!! Keep enlightening us.. wherever you go, we follow!
And on another note, when we met I was extremely intrigued by a gold cuff that Ridgely wore above her elbow . With the exception of Cleopatra , I had never seen anything like that. So beautifully simplistic …. a family tradition I believe given to her by her grandmother. Maybe on another day you can share that story and tell us how to do something like that for our daughters…. although I’m certain that no one can pull it off like you…. I still search for it on your photos ….
I have 2017 Goals. 1) to shop my closet, I have beautiful clothes and I need to be wearing them. Although I realize some items need replacements–white tees, nightwear and underwear, but everything else is excellent. 2) to keep up my nutrition program and to get more exercise. 3) to continue with my home organizational plan to keep up with clutter and to be more productive 4) to entertain more 5) read more; less screens. Last fall I developed a pie chart of the plus and minus parts of my life and then developed simply strategies to make the minus sections become pluses.
