As I mentioned earlier, I didn’t really think out what I packed for Florida and what I would need for an extended stay. I wasn’t thinking I would be here as long as I have and I brought resort clothes. Lots of white and lightweight fabrics. Turns out people who live in Florida wear Fall/ Winter colored clothes this time of year just like we do up North.. expect not heavyweight fabrics.
Every now and again, it does get cold down here.. not 26 degrees cold.. but cold enough you want a cashmere sweater and maybe even a light puffer to break the wind. I am not prepared for those days!
I am not going out all the time or on the social circuit, but the few times I have gone out, I have leaned into my closet looking for something to put on. I am at a disadvantage because I can’t dress up what I am wearing with a cute pair of shoes… so I already feel a bit sloppy. Hence the post about getting a new pair of sneakers.
I have lots of appropriate clothes at home like long cashmere dusters, darker patterned blouses (similar to those pictured in the slider below), and mid-weight to lightweight jackets in neutral colors. I may have to get my husband to pack up my favorites and send them to me but it is way more fun to go looking for new ones!
Because I love to mix and match blue with tans and grey, I started there. I found plenty of tops and layers that would work both in Florida and at home where it really is Winter! Time to get shopping!
