I am sure I am not alone when I say I really do not want to spend a ton of money on a raincoat or rain boots, but on foul weather days I find myself happy to have what I need in my closet. Today was one of those hot, humid and then raining days where I was glad I had this lightweight hooded waterproof jacket. I bought it for my trip to London this Summer and I can’t tell you the number of times I pulled it out to wear. I love the hood and that it is long enough that if you sit on a bench your backside stays dry. It also folds inside its pocket for easy packing!
What I do not have is a heavier hooded rain jacket for those cold days when a parka is a little to heavy for example, I like this one, this one, and this one has an interior vest for even more warmth.
I also have still not taken the plunge on a pair of ankle height rubber boots. I have the Original Hunter Boots but when I am commuting they are too clunky and heavy. A comfortable, lighter style is what I have my eye on like these or these. What are your favorite rainy day gear?

Ridgely, thanks for a great post. If you see any chic, affordable rain hats, that would be a good p.s. to this post. I saw a good looking one at Hermes recently, but am looking for something less expensive!
I agree, a good rain hat is hard to find! I will do a little looking around and see what I come up with. Thanks catherine! xx
