Snow Day

What a difference a week makes!  One week ago, we were in sunny, warm Florida and fast forward to now when it is snowing and freezing!  UGH!  It was so nice to have a snow day on Saturday and I took full advantage.  I did not get out of my pajamas until about 5pm and only then it was just to put on jeans to wear under my Parka (love this longer version).  I had a little cabin fever from packing up Christmas and cleaning up the house from the Holidays, so I put on a parka to run around in the snow with the dogs.  It was fun to play in the snow, get some fresh air and then go back inside to warm up!  This is me…no makeup, housebound and happy!  Looking for items to keep you warm in these frigid temps?  Then check out this post for some favorites and so many options on sale here.

There's nothing better than spending a Snow day! Ridgely Brode spent the entire day in her pajamas and came out late in the day to play in the Snow.

The Best Winter Boots are Shearling-Lined for Warmth

I remember last year our son wanted a pair of L.L.Bean Boots and his size was sold out! This year, we are going to order them NOW and make sure he gets what he wants. I just looked and I saw some sizes are no longer available (eeeek!) so I am loading up my cart and purchasing them today!  I spied several shearling-lined versions and am so excited, I have been wanting a warm, cozy pair for myself.  Looks like there will be a lot of L.L.Bean Boots under the tree this year!  Grab them while they last because they do not restock…

DIY Snowy Terrarium

To start off December I thought it would be the perfect time to bring in some snow and do-over my terrarium.  You may remember my DIY Spooky Terrarium that I had so much fun creating for Halloween.  I took the same terrarium, cleaned it out and changed the scenery.

To make my winter wonderland, I sprayed fake snow inside the terrarium and let it dry.  This was the hardest part because the thicker sections of snow did not dry inside the terrarium.  I ended up wiping out the wet parts on the bottom with a small piece of paper towel.  As hard as I tried not to mark up the snow, somehow I had a few spots wipe off.

Once the snow dried I cut off the bottom of a white garbage bag and filled it with a cup or so of packing peanuts.  I carefully arranged it at the bottom of the terrarium.  I sprinkled the fake snow to cover the bag and make snow drifts.  I then placed the trees and Rudolph among the snow.

Supplies:
Spray snow
white plastic garbage bag filled with packing peanuts
Fake snow
Snow covered trees
Rudolph and baby raccoons

I love spying Rudolph and the baby racoons among the trees through the snow covered glass.  I am now on the look out for the perfect miniature Santa Claus to add to the scene.  If you see one, please let me know.

Happy December!
