I do not have a green thumb. It is so sad, because I come from a family of really good gardeners. I am going to blame it on our house in Connecticut that did not have a lot of natural light. I was never able to keep any plants alive. Since I couldn’t have plants, I used to buy faux blooms all the time to create centerpieces and/or arrangements around our house. Check out this post of a Fall arrangement with faux flowers I posted on the blog.
One of my non-negotiable for the new house in Florida was that it had to have lots of natural light. I am hoping we can have lots of plants that will not wither away, if not, I can fill it with some real looking faux plants and flowers!
What can you do if you do not have a green thumb or the right light for real plants?
You can buy the most real looking faux potted plants and trees! Artificial flowers and plants used to be so tacky and unnatural looking but now it can be hard to tell the real from the faux. From large potted plants, like this Areca Palm Tree (that comes in 4 sizes – the largest is 6 feet) to small stems and over-sized tropical leaves that you can arrange in pots or vases.
What can you do if you do not have florist near you that carries seasonal flowers or hard to find blooms?
You can substitute fresh flowers with beautiful real looking faux versions! There are so many options and some really good resources on-line that I periodically check on to see what they have that is new and seasonal. You can also find some great end of season sales if you have a place to store them.
I rounded up all my faux favorites below from potted trees, long green leafy stems and flowering branches. Take a look and click through to purchase or find more selections.
