While I love the look of a slouchy sweater with a skirt and pants, I am in the season of life where I go from cold to very hot. And a lovely, warm sweater is not helping me when I get to the hot stage. I want to rip it off and walk around in my bra.. which is not a good look. Then there is the whole slouchy sweater look that on me is…well…slouchy.
Which gets me on the hunt for classic shirts to wear with skirts and pants. Ones that I can wear alone, layer under a sweater, tuck in or leave out – but not a big oversized shirt with a long tail hanging out.
Not all blouses are created equal, try them on and see what fits you the best and is the most flattering to your figure.
Last year, I bought these really flattering and comfortable lace pants in the black and red (I know… I bought the red!!!). The only thing I did not like about them was the elastic on the back side. It looks horrible! So in true Ridgely fashion, I went to every single store looking for a blouse that would cover the offending waistline. I ended up getting this cropped ecru short sleeve top to wear with the red pants. I went with it because it was all I could find, but it was a tad short on me.
After another re-look this time around – I am going to try this classic crew neck silk tee, this silk tee with the high-low hem, this wrap drapey blouse and this ruffle collar blouse with rhinestone buttons. And because I also get cold.. I have this cashmere wrap on my list plus this jeweled button sweater that I could slip on top of one of the blouses.
While I was looking, I also tagged some skirts that caught my eye that I added to the slider below. I hope you find some classic shirts that work for you!
