I am in the middle of a seven book series ( an eighth book is coming in the Spring of 2014) and I cannot put them down. It is romance, historical fiction, time travel all wrapped up into a riveting, exciting, and heart breaking story. I have to thank my Sister-in-Law for recommending the Diana Gabaldon’s Outlander Series has me hooked and I do not know if I will be able to read anything else until I finish them….
Be warned they are very large books, to give you an idea of their size; the first one is 896 pages, the second, Dragonfly in Amber is 752 pages, the third, Voyager is 1072 pages and the fourth, Drums of Autumn is 1088 pages. Do not let that scare you off, I finished the first one in a week of non-stop reading.
Just start with book one – Outlander – and see what you think!
All I can say is.. start with book number one – Outlander. Don’t stress over the fact it is too many pages or you already saw some of the show on TV. I love how it has been adapted for television and am obsessed with the show, but the books are rich with more background, details and you will love how engaging they are. I promise! I got them on my Kindle and then I wasn’t carting around a HUGE book. The cool thing with the NEW Kindle is that it has Audible – so you can listen or read your books!
If you are already an Outlander Fan and are looking for another great series to enjoy – check out my Post and Book Review of the All Souls Trilogy. It is only 4 books 🙂 and they are not half as long as the Outlander Series.
Happy Reading!
I’ve devoured them all (over the course of many months) and love them! Can’t wait until the next book comes out. I might have to refresh myself on the details of the last book before that one comes out 🙂
Ridgely, I’d be happy to discuss, I have read them all as quickly as you are reading them and was so sad when I found out I had to wait until Spring 2014 for the next book. Enjoy!
Ridgely,
Thanks for the recommendation. I adore Historial Fiction and like you, tend to shut the world out when I am engaged. Just finished The White Witch, I wanted to get it read before the Starz series began. I will keep this series on the list. xxookk
I read this post and immediately thought ‘oh I can’t read those I won’t sleep or get anything done until they are finished’. I’ll keep them in mind though. I usually like to have all the books out so there’s no wait. I finished The Hunger Games trilogy in four days last summer and then spent at least four months rereading them.
My favorite Series… The only problem when reading these books is that my hands started to hurt from holding the books open – I could not put them down! Reading on my Kindle solved that problem. Enjoy!
