Easy French Toast

Servings: 2
Author: Ridgely

Ingredients

  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • sprinkle of cinnamon
  • 4 slices of bread
  • butter/ margarine for griddle
  • Confectioners Sugar 10x Powdered Sugar, sprinkled using mesh strainer
  • Maple Syrup to taste

Instructions

  • Pre-heat non-stick electric griddle or griddle pan on high heat. In a pyrex pie dish combine the egg, milk and a sprinkle of cinnamon with a small whisk. Place one slice of bread into the mixture until coated and flip to coat the other side (do not leave the bread in the mixture too long, you do not want it to get soggy.) Put a small pat of butter or margarine on griddle, place bread coated in egg mixture on sizzling butter, flip the bread when the bottom side is browned. When the second side of bread is browned, remove from griddle, put on serving plate. Repeat with rest of bread. Serve two slices of bread per plate, sprinkle with confectioners sugar and a side of warmed syrup.

Notes

Note 1: As I wait for the bread to cook, I heat the syrup in mini-pitchers in the microwave for 30 seconds.
Note 2: For my son with Celiac, I either make his dish first, dipping his gluten-free bread into the egg mixture and then cook it on the clean griddle, or I make two batters and use two griddles. Just depends on how hungry he is and how many people are joining us for the meal.
