I don’t know what I was thinking when I packed.. Cleary I wasn’t thinking about undergarments and I was just out of surgery so I can’t really remember much of what I was doing but I only packed 2 t-shirt bras. Two bras for going on 3 months!
And now they are showing wear from being the only ones on rotation. 🙁
So I thought I would share some lingerie tips that I have learned from my best friend who has worked in the field forever…
How do I know it is time to replace my bras?
I can tell they need to be tossed because (1) the straps are stretched out and curling when I am not wearing them, (2) the padding is wrinkling, (3) the straps are falling off my shoulder when I am wearing them and (4) the back closure is loose on the tightest hook.
How many bras should I have?
At home, I have a mix of bras to rotate and that work with different style tops. Experts say you should have at least 5 t-shirt/everyday bras, a few lace bras, an underwire bra, and several sports bras. I would add that you should have a nude and a black bra in each category.
How do I care for my bras?
To keep the shape and longevity of my bras, I put them in a mesh laundry bag that I toss in my laundry machine and wash on cold. I hang them to dry and never put them in the dryer.
HOT TIP: Get out your Sharpie and put the date when you bought your new bra. Be sure to rotate wearing your bras and then get rid of the oldest ones first.
Time to go shopping for some new bras!
I am going to replace them with two of these balconette bras and I’m ordering this demi bra to try! I just heard about Negative Underwear from my BFF – she loves how they fit. I am excited because they have a few styles that are unlined and are just what I am looking for.
top: Silky Demi Bra in Black / Silky Demi Bra in Peach Moiré bottom: Sieve Demi Bra in Peach / Essaouira Demi Bra in Black
Have you checked out underbares? It’s a new conpany run by a young woman. Love the u bra and the underwear! I’m going to check out negative underwear. Love the look. I’m a bit behind. I know you had surgery but, why? What happened????
Love the post!
