I love a delicious big cup of coffee every morning. When we moved into our house in Florida, I bought this Illy white single serve coffee maker thinking that it would be the ONE machine I would need.
BUT.. isn’t there always a but??
In the Summer and especially in Florida, I want to drink ice coffee more than I want hot coffee.
So I use my Cuisinart 4 cup coffee maker to make drip coffee to put in the refrigerator for my morning ice coffee.
It’s not just that I have two coffee makers in a galley kitchen with limited counter space but the Cuisinart 4 cup coffee maker is just that.. 4 cups! I loved it for years because it made the perfect amount of hot coffee to fill my favorite big mug but for ice coffee it feels like I am making coffee all the time. A bigger pot would be more convenient.
So what’s the problem?
In the span of a week, the Illy coffee maker broke and I realized that the Cuisinart, which was already pretty past its prime started leaving marks on our white counter tops.
Now what?
The Illy coffee maker was one month past its warranty.. Seriously?? But they very nicely are sending me a new one. Phew! I can use my pods up!
Which means I need to figure out a drip coffee maker for my ice coffee.
I am on the hunt for the best looking white coffee makers that, hopefully, delivers delicious coffee.
I am not sure if it will be possible to find the ONE that fits my wish list.. but I am going to try.
Here is my wish list:
- White – That’s pretty easy. We have a white galley kitchen and I want it to blend in rather than stand out on my counter tops.
- 8-10 cup – For ice coffee, I brew the coffee the day or night before so that I can pour it over ice or pop in the refrigerator to chill. My current 4 cup is too small and it feels like I am constantly making coffee.
- Size Matters – I would like it to be pretty compact as I am the only coffee drinker and we have limited counter space.
- Dishwasher safe – Aren’t they all dishwasher safe? I am going to check to be sure. I have been known to break glass carafes.. but there aren’t that many that aren’t glass. I will have to be careful. Plus a insulated carafe is for keeping coffee hot and I want Ice Coffee!
Can you see how I complicate a simple shopping expedition??
Lets take a look at some similar white coffee makers to get an idea of size for our counter and price.
Smeg 50’s Retro 10 Cup Coffee Maker – 10L x 10W x 14H $229.95 – this is so chic but pricey!
Beautiful 14 Cup Programmable Touchscreen Coffee Maker – 17.44L x 12.95W x 10.78 H $59 I thought the measurements might be wrong on the site because it seems really long and not very tall. I like the look of it and the price is good.
Mr. Coffee 5 Cup Switch Coffee Maker – 7.15D x 10W x 10.7H $24.99 – This is billed as the smallest white drip coffee maker, similar to my current black Cuisinart that doesn’t come in white, but the dimensions are not that far off some of the others listed here. It gets a great rating on Amazon and you can’t beat the price.
Cuisinart ® Coffee Center ® White 12-Cup Coffee Maker and Single-Serve Brewer – 10.38W x 10.25D x 14.5H $199.95 I like the idea of both drip and single serve as I have that now with two machines.. I could trim down to one machine that does both …What do you think?
Hamilton Beach 2-Way Brewer Coffee Maker, Single-Serve and 12-Cup Pot – 14L x 15.5W x 11.75H $74.99 This is a good option if you do not want to use Pods and only grounds. It has 1743 4.5 star rating on Amazon.
Decisions.. decisions..
Let me know what you think and do you have any other better ideas or a coffee maker you love?
PS… Did you notice I threw in one NON-White Coffee maker? I love the look of it and the color is so pretty!
