5 Things in My Beauty Bag | 06

The Holidays are when I like to break out the sparkles!  This month, the 5 things in my beauty bag include my favorite sparkle eye shadow.  I was turned on to it by my niece, it looked so great shimmering on her eye lids, I had to try it!  I also like this creme stick in goldstone – it goes on really easily and you can blend it with your fingertip. Another new find was from my friend Adrienne, she introduced me to this Chanel Lip Color, one side is a lipstick and the other a gloss. It stays on and lasts a long time, which is so much better than losing your lip color right as you start sipping your first cocktail! I like to wear my hair up and think it would be nice to add a little sparkle with one of the hairpins.  I normally wear a nude nail color, buy  am thinking of giving these colors a try even if they only last one night! And lastly, this spray powder for your body and hair is so cool! It reminds me of bottles I saw on my Grandmother’s dressing table and I love how it puffs out, a perfect way to feel glamorous while getting ready and then later showing of a little glimmer on your decolletage. How’s that for fabulous!

Each month, Ridgely Brode post 5 things in her beauty bag on her blog, Ridgely's Radar. Things she loves to use and others that she can't wait to try.

It isn’t even Thanksgiving and everywhere I look, Christmas is in full swing (case in point.. did you see this?). With that in mind, I started looking for all the beauty items to give and receive that could be stocking stuffers, present for your best gal pal or maybe a little re-fresher for your own travel case.  How fabulous is the Deborah Lippmann Come Fly with Me Manicure Set?  Love that! I have always wanted a very nice set of makeup brushes in a case of their own and I have to say the Charlotte Tilbury Magical Mini Brush Set is right on point.  So many fun, useful items that come in their own travel case.  What’s not to love about getting a beauty gift set?

New Hair Smoothing Routine

I just discovered the Moroccanoil® Smoothing Shampoo and Conditioner. What a difference it has made to my routine.  Now I wash and condition my hair, using just a little bit of conditioner starting at the ends and moving it up but not hitting my scalp, comb my hair wet in the shower and then blow dry.  The first time I tried the shampoo and conditioner, I was out of my Redken Anti Frizz Serum and decided to go right to drying my hair without any product in it.  I was amazed how easy it was to dry my hair (I have a lot of thick hair) and how fast it took.  My hair looked great, stayed straight and smooth until my next wash.  A win-win!

I’m back with this months beauty items that I am using on repeat (see last months list here).  I have been a huge fan of Diptyque for as many years as I can remember.  My current favorite is Olène Eau de Toilette, it makes me happy when I smell it and love spritzing it when I get dressed.  A new discovery is the Guerlain “Midnight Secret’ Late Night Recovery it is one of several Supertips from Guerlain to give overnight results. I want to give the Radiance in a Flash a go. I have been using the Pureology Super Smooth Shampoo and Conditioner since February and love it. It is very concentrated so start with no more than a pea size of conditioner at first so you can see what works best for your hair type. I have really thick, dry hair and that’s all I need.  I only put it on the ends of my hair and never on the roots or it gets to weighed down and greasy.  Not to be missed is Fresh Sugar Tinted Lip Treatment, I am a big fan of the nude but you can chose from other colors or just the clear. What I  do not currently own is the Cle de Peau Beaute Concealer.  It is a best seller and on every must have beauty list.  I think it is time I gave it a try!  What are your favorite beauty products?

Don’t you love getting a brand spanking new beauty bag and filling it with the latest products?!?!  I do!  It makes me happy to start from scratch and have a clean spot to carry my favorite finds.  I thought I would begin an on-going series of the 5 things in my beauty bag.  Would that interest you?  To start it off, I am rounding up the 5 items that  I am using right now.

All Winter, I was excited about the Bobbi Brown Eye Opening Mascara, but I just switched to her Smokey Eye Mascara.  It is my new favorite along with this almost nude lip gloss. I am always trying new hair products and I just discovered Moroccanoil Dry Texture Spray, I really like how it holds my waves and keeps my hair from being too slippery when it is newly washed.  I’m giving that tousled, bed head look a go… not sure if it is working on me, but I think the texture spray is doing its job.  I am desperate to get my feet back to their smooth beginnings and was told by the beauty experts in the office to give Baby Foot a try. This could be a game changer! And finally, I was given Redken Outshine from one of my best friends who knows I battle the frizzies.  It has been the best tamer to-date.  I give it 5 stars.  What are you go-to products?  We want to know…

Move over Claw Clip

I love the claw clip, it grabs, holds and can add volume to my crown, but it seems a tad.. how do I say it.. casual?? I am wondering if I can move over, or rather back, to a barrette.  Is seems more polished, at least from the back view than a claw clip, certainly a cleaner, flatter look.  What do you think?  Are barrettes making a come back??
