I get a kick out of planning a table for a special event or just a few people over for dinner. I had the good fortune to be able to help Terri, my sister-in-law, decorate her table. She has a beautiful peacock wall paper that inspired what I wanted to do on her table and sideboard. Taking a cue from the teal blue of the birds and silver from the urns in the wallpaper, I got to work.
I used peacock feather wreaths with hurricanes and silver candles as centerpieces. It is hard to see in the picture but the tablecloths are a soft grey color over a white under cloth. We used dark pewter chargers to ground the white plates and napkins. I made the feather napkin rings (DIY Step by Step instructions Posted Here) to tie in with the wreaths and theme of the decorations.
For the sideboard, I put a large footed mercury urn in the center filled with silver glitter and painted pine cones as a subtle tie-in with the wallpaper.
On either end of the sideboard, I placed glass hurricanes with the same silver candles as on the table and several sized balsam wood laser cut trees in teal and green with small silver pine cones scattered among them.
It is a beautiful room and it was fun to be able to add some accessories that she can use year after year and still be elegant and timeless.
Absolutely beautiful!
Fabulous! I wish you could come do my dining room table!
