There is nothing better than getting organized and the first stop is my desk!! I am sure you are like me and have drawers that get stuffed with pieces of paper and anything you want to sweep off the desk. You realize you can’t find anything and it is so frustrating! Ugh! I really should do a clean sweep every quarter but sometimes it is once in September – Back to School – and then the New Year because .. well, it’s the New Year!
When Should You Start Getting Organized?
Today! I say when the urge hits you, take it head on! It may not be the best time, but once you sweep away the mess and put everything back in its proper place you will be able to focus and be more efficient. Trust me on this, it will make a world of difference in your motivation and success in tackling a project.
Pretty much every corner of your house has to be organized on an on-going basis.. otherwise it becomes a bigger mess and harder and harder to control.. Seriously.. Have you seen hoarders? YIKES!
I am going to be sharing on the blog what I do to stay on top of those pesky out of control areas of our house.. some are once a year, others are every season or quarter and many are once a month or even once a day (!) depending on the task at hand.

Let’s get Organized, a little at a time!
I don’t know about you, but traditionally December is a crazy month for me, so when I leave the office and our home for our vacation after Christmas, I have let all my good habits fall to the wayside and everywhere I look there is piles of junk; my drawers, my desktop, and my files (in and out off my computer). Ugh! And let’s not get to my bathroom, closet, bureau, pretty much everywhere… it is overwhelming and makes me crazy!
Once Christmas is put away I can focus on the rest of the clutter!
When we get home from vacation, I get started with putting away all our Christmas decorations and as I pack them away for another year, I edit things to donate and toss. Once our house is back to its pre-christmas state I start to feel better and I can focus on my next big task – my desk!
For me, week one is all about my desk and computer being organized and starting out the New Year with a new calendar, updated files and a cleaned out Inbox is the best feeling. It is like the cobwebs of my brain and desk are swept clean which makes it so much easier to find what I am looking for when everything is stored in its proper place.
Next Up, all things Tech..
This weekend will be my time to clean out my desk, computer and phone. I put together my 6 Tips to a Clean and Organized Desk and you can get it by subscribing HERE or below in the Sign Up Box. That way you can print it out and go at your own pace. It is a lot to do and, depending on your space, it can be best to take it in small time increments that work for your schedule.
My current desk is in the kitchen and I really need to remove myself from the action to be more productive. I am going to set up a new space and try to make it my own. I would like to get a few supplies to be my reward for tackling a big clean out..,I am looking at these acrylic bookends, these letter opener and magnifying glass, I have been wanting this acrylic tape dispenser and stapler, and think this acrylic monitor stand is so useful and there are so many more goodies pictured below! Happy Organizing!
